LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 20, 2026) – Two Lakeshore school districts will share in $10 million of Universal Free Application for Federal Student Aid Challenge Awards funds.
On Thursday, the state Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential announced that West Ottawa Public Schools will receive over $433,000, and Zeeland Public Schools more than $363,000, as these districts have adopted completion of applying for federal financial support as a requirement for graduation from high school. This application is used to determine state and federal scholarship and loan requirements, and students who qualify have a simple process for opting out.
Other nearby districts sharing in this second annual round of awards include Bangor and Jenison, after Hudsonville earned this last year. More than 67,000 FAFSA applications were submitted by graduating seniors in Michigan in 2025.
