HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 28, 2026) – A local effort to find housing for the needy is being taken over by a regional non-profit.
Two weeks ago, Hope Network and Ladder Homes announced a merger that would see the statewide organization taking over operational responsibility of the Holland-based initiative that provides lower-acuity, independent living options.
Ladder Homes grew from its humble origins 35 years ago to currently providing seven houses, serving 30 residents with mental illness or substance use challenges, in an independent living environment aimed at developing long-term stability. Rents are held low, and the non-profit provides for utilities.
Rick VanTil is the Executive Director of Ladder Homes and will stay on through at least July to support a smooth transition.
Although Ladder Homes will become part of Hope Network’s housing services team, its established identity and approach will be maintained, with no changes to services, staffing, or day-to-day operations.
