DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – USA Today is buying The Detroit News.
They already own the Detroit Free Press, which has competed with The Detroit News for 153 years.
The joint operating agreement with the two Motown newspapers ended December 28, 2025 and USA Today says they will maintain both newspapers as separate products with distinct voices.
Terms of the purchase will not be disclosed and the transaction is expected to close at the end of this month.
