POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 25, 2026) – No injuries were reported after a pick up truck slammed into a residence southwest of Coopersville during the overnight hours of Sunday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant David DeWitt, the incident occurred shortly after 1:30 AM in the vicinity of 84th Avenue and River Ridge Drive, just north of the Grand River. A resident of the home had called Central Dispatch, and responding deputies discovered that a 54-year-old area man was driving his truck southbound when he failed to negotiate a left turn onto River Ridge.
The vehicle went off of the roadway, through a fence, down a hill, and into a west wall of two-story structure. Not only did the collision caused unspecified damage to the house, but it also created a natural gas leak that had to be addressed by members of Coopersville-Polkton Fire & Rescue.
Neither the driver nor the resident inside of the home at the time, the names of which were not disclosed, were hurt. DeWitt didn’t go into the circumstances of what led the pickup to lose control and leave the roadway, as the incident remains under investigation.
