Edith Nivison went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 11, 2020. She is joyfully reunited with her husband Chuck (6/23/2010) and daughter Peggy (8/3/2016) who preceded her in death, and many other family members who have gone on before. Edith was born on March 30, 1927 in Hollis, NY to Farrell and Edith (Vagaline) O’Reilly. She attended the public schools and started working at Ideal Toy Company in 1944. She met Chuck in 1944 while he was training with the Navy during WWII. They married on December 23, 1945 while he was on leave. They moved to Holland in 1947 were she worked at Steketee Van Huis Printing Company until they started their family, and then stayed at home to raise their children. She trained in 1971 to become a Nurse’s Aide. She loved taking care of the residents at Haven Park Nursing Home, and then at Birchwood Manor where she worked until she retired. Edith’s relationship and love of God was the most important thing in her life. Daily devotions with prayer were her staple. Her deep faith and trust in God was her foundation, which shined through in the way she lived. She was a wonderful mom, nanny and great-nanny, living by example the true meaning of unconditional love. Always there to listen or have a shoulder to lean on, she loved without limits. The void that we have in our hearts today will one day be filled with the many happy and joyful memories we have of her. Edith will be deeply missed by her children, Judy (Jymm) Smith of Holland, Kevin (Shirley) Nivison of Minnesota, Pat (Tom) Snellink of Walker, her 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held. Burial will take place at Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Please visit www.lakeshorememorial.com to leave a message or memory for the Nivison family.
