GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 23-year-old woman was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash north of Hudsonville on Sunday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt, first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Baldwin Street and 36th Avenue around 1:20 PM. “Investigation shows that a 31-year-old woman from the Hudsonville area was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound on Baldwin street and was proceeding through the intersection of 36th Avenue with a green light,” Wendt said in a department statement. “(The Allendale woman) was northbound on 36th Avenue, driving a Kia Niro, and disregarded the red light, striking the Jeep Cherokee in the intersection.”
The Allendale woman was cited for disregarding a red light before being taken to Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The Cherokee driver and a passenger, a one-year-old boy, were not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
