HOLLAND MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 1, 2026) – Unless notified otherwise, Holland Hospital gets credit for the first new birth of 2026 along the Lakeshore.
The medical facility announced on Thursday morning the arrival of Hailey Joe, a six-pound, 15-ounce girl, stretching 19 inches long. She was born at 5:41 AM to Mery Mateo and Hagen Sonni of Holland, the couple’s first child. Mother and daughter were reported doing well following the birth.
There was no immediate word as to any births on New Year’s Day at either Corewell Health-Zeeland Hospital or Trinity Health Grand Haven Hospital, the two other medical facilities in Ottawa/Allegan counties that do have birthing units.
