JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 31, 2025) – A 68-year-old Zeeland man was seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash southwest of Hudsonville on Wednesday morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tamminga, a northbound SUV on 48th Avenue had stopped for a stop sign at Byron Road around 9:15 AM when its driver, a 26-year-old Allegan woman, pulled out onto the roadway and into the path of an eastbound sedan. The subsequent collision caused the smaller vehicle to veer into a ditch, hitting a utility pole in the process.
The sedan driver had to be extricated from his car and was taken to a “local hospital” by an AMR ambulance, while the SUV motorist was not hurt.
No names were disclosed as the incident remains under investigation.
The 48th Avenue at Byron Road junction has seen more than its share of injury collisions over the years, with Byron Road traffic steadily going at 55 miles per hour through the junction with the right of way.
