ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 24, 2025) – An Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol was involved with a two-vehicle crash in downtown Zeeland late on Tuesday night.
According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Cassie Tolman, the deputy was eastbound on Washington Avenue just before 11 PM, driving through the intersection with State Street on a flashing yellow light, when his prowl car was struck by a northbound SUV, driven by an 18-year-old Zeeland woman, that apparently drove through a flashing red light at that junction. Both drivers suffered minor injuries that necessitated treatment at an “area hospital.”
No names were disclosed as the incident remains under investigation.
