HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 26, 2025) – Just in time for one of the busiest travel times of the year is the first significant snowfall of the season, predicted for this Thanksgiving weekend.
Although the National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Ottawa County, and a Winter Storm Warning for Allegan County, both for between now and 7 PM on Thursday night, the Lakeshore may not get as much snow accumulations as other parts of the state. However, visibility may be adversely affected by high winds, and temperatures could make roads snow covered and slippery.
There is a popular belief that one of the most dangerous times to be on the road is during that first major snowfall of the season. There is some credence to that belief, according to Michigan State Police Lieutenant DuWayne Robinson.
Weather Service forecasters are also predicting another possible accumulating snow event of at least three inches for Saturday into Sunday.
