HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 11, 2025) – The Lakeshore and the nation pauses on this November 11th to honor those who have served and who are serving in the US armed forces.
Originally meant to commemorate the armistice that ended World War I, Veterans Day in this country and Remembrance Day elsewhere remains special for US Air Force vet Garrett Dickey, the District 8 Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Michigan.
Four area high schools are holding Veterans Day commemorative ceremonies, highlighted by the 88th such occasion at Holland High School, set to begin at 10:35 AM, with coverage on WHTC Holland’s Cool FM. Other assemblies are slated for 8:45 AM at West Ottawa High, 9 AM at Fennville High, and 9:30 AM at Holland Christian High. There are also separate ceremonies at Beery Field in Douglas at 11 AM, and at Village Square Park in Saugatuck at 4:30 PM.
