OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 30, 2025) – Two of three persons arrested after a late Wednesday morning armed robbery of a convenience store between Holland and Grand Haven have been arraigned.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the West Olive One-Stop off of West Olive Road and Croswell Street around 10:50 AM. A clerk on duty reported that two suspects flashed a weapon and took undisclosed merchandise from the store before fleeing. The clerk was not hurt.
Shortly thereafter, a deputy on patrol in Allendale spotted a vehicle matching the description of the getaway vehicle from the robbery. Despite a high-speed chase into Kent County, the suspects were able to initially elude capture. Kent County deputies eventually spotted the abandoned vehicle, with three men trying to flee on foot unsuccessfully, and the suspects were apprehended without further incident.
On Thursday, 21-year-old Jose Rosales-Torres of Holland was arraigned on armed robbery and fourth-degree fleeing and eluding charges, and he remains in the Ottawa County Jail on $350,000 bond. A 16-year-old unnamed boy was also arraigned before 58th District Court Judge Craig Bunce as an adult on armed robbery, felonious assault and felony firearms charges, and he also remains held on a similar bond. A 17-year-old was released to the custody of his parents/guardians at the time of the arrests; his status was not disclosed in an Sheriff’s Office statement issued on Friday. No mention was immediately made as to whether the stolen merchandise was recovered.
