LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 24, 2025) – A member of the Lakeshore’s state legislative delegation has been appointed to a state board.
Governor Whitmer on Thursday announced that Joey Andrews will fill a vacancy on the Workforce Development Board, which is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of Michigan’s four-year plan to have 60 percent of the labor force have a post-secondary degree or certification by 2030. The second-term Democrat from St. Joseph, whose district includes western Allegan County, is a former AFL-CIO policy analyst, and will represent the state House on the board.
Unlike some other gubernatorial appointments to boards and commissions, Andrews’ selection to Michigan’s Workforce Development Board is not subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
