HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Whether or not state restrictions will be extended or allowed to expire Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 as planned is unclear as of 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
If the numbers of people getting ill and dying are any indication, the limits may be extended.
Of the 4,441 Allegan County residents who’ve gotten the virus so far, 2,060 are recovered; 40 people have died.
In Ottawa County, where 15,499 residents have gotten ill since mid-March 7,516 have recovered and 173 people have died.
- On Friday, county officials reported that since November first, COVID-19 case counts increased by more than 130 percent, hospitalizations rose by 46 percent and deaths increased by 94 percent.
- Test positivity also remains elevated, at about 15 percent for the last three weeks — 3 percent is considered a manageable rate by health officials.
Free testing is set for 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec 8, 2020, at the Ottawa County Road Commission’s Grand Haven parking lot, 14110 Lakeshore Drive in Grand Haven.
County officials are asking people to avoid lining up early, because traffic jams and other problems result. Uninsured adults 19 years and older who are getting tested for COVID-19 can also get a free flu vaccine.
