Dillon Dingler’s solo homer in the sixth inning snapped a 1-1 tie, as the Tigers topped the Guardians in Cleveland yesterday, 6-3, to win the best-of-three American League Wild Card Series, two games to one. Detroit is in Seattle tomorrow night for the opener of a best-of-five Divisional Series against the Mariners.
Pete Crow-Armstrong collected three hits, including a RBI single in the second inning which opened the scoring, as the Cubs put away the visiting San Diego Padres at Wrigley Field yesterday, 3-1, to win the best-of-three National League Wild Card Series, two games to one, Chicago is in Milwaukee tomorrow for the opener of a best-of-five Divisional Series against the Brewers.

Alex DeBrincat’s goal with 7:32 left snapped a 1-1 tie and enabled the Red Wings to beat the Maple Leafs in preseason hockey action at Toronto last night, 3-1. The two teams have a rematch at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit tomorrow evening.
The Blackhawks entertain the Minnesota Wild in preseason play at the United Center in Chicago tonight.
