UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 20, 2025) – The staggered start of classes for Academic 2026 along the Lakeshore continues on Wednesday.
Following Tuesday’s opening by Holland Christian and Borculo Christian schools, day two finds the first public districts ringing school bells for the first time this school year, in Hamilton and in Fennville. Also beginning classes are Black River Public School, South Olive Christian School, and Corpus Christi Catholic School.
On Thursday, Holland and West Ottawa public schools start classes, along with Eagle Crest and Vandelbilt charter academies. Next week finds Saugatuck Public Schools and Calvary Schools of Holland getting underway on Tuesday, followed the next day by Zeeland Public Schools.
As for the institutions of higher education: Grand Valley State welcomes new students to the dorms in Allendale on Wednesday, followed by Hope College doing the same in Holland on Thursday. Classes begin at both schools, along with the Holland campus of Grand Rapids Community College, this coming Monday.
