SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 14, 2025) – A long-time issue in Saugatuck may be finally addressed on Monday evening.
During the scheduled 6:30 PM biweekly business meeting, City Council members will be asked to retain the firm Fleis and VandenBrink for a needs study, conceptual design, and structural evaluation on renovating Saugatuck City Hall. It’s not as if this is something that just came out of the blue, according to City Manager Ryan Cummins.
Cummins added that the $30,000 price tag for this “scope of services” provided by Fleis and VandenBrink has already been budgeted for. The Grand Rapids firm has had a professional services agreement with the City of Saugatuck since late in 2018.
In addition, council members will be asked to create an advisory parking improvement task force, with the intent to look for ways to improve parking in the downtown district, along with retaining a consultant, which Cummins said was also included in the Fiscal 2026 budget.
The Saugatuck City Council meets in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.), with an online link to the agenda and supporting documents here.
