HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 18, 2025) – A way to make local streets safer for all is before the Holland City Council on Wednesday night.
Among the items on the agenda for the biweekly 6 PM business meeting is a vote on a resolution approving the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council’s Roadway Safety Action Plan, which would help in securing federal grant funds for proposed improvements to parts of Washington and Michigan avenues, along with 17th and 24th streets. It would be part of the Safe Streets for All program that supports safety improvements to roadways that are owned and operated by local road agencies.
Jason Latham is the executive director of the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council.
Approval of the resolution would allow city staff to submit a construction grant request with the US Department of Transportation that is due later this month.
The Holland City Council meets in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). An online link to the meeting agenda and supporting documents is here.
