HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 6, 2025) – A new “fuel farm” is now in place at West Michigan Regional Airport.
The facility on Holland’s South Side announced on Thursday that a $1.2 million setup, provided by the airport’s FBO, Avflight Holland, will hold about 30,000 gallons of jet fuel, along with 10,000 gallon of avgas, in above-ground storage tanks, replacing underground containers that had been in place for nearly 50 years. While the old tanks had still continued to pass annual safety inspections, this new setup is seen as a preemptive measure to prevent any future hazardous situations.
A project that began last August, the fuel farm is part of a series of planned infrastructure improvements at the airport, including “rehabilitating” the main taxiway, an apron overflow, and lighting, according to Interim Director Jim Storey.
Storey is hopeful that the improvements can be done over the next couple of years.
