HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 16, 2025) – It’s not a case of “better late than never,” but awareness of feeding the needy is spotlighted this weekend in Holland.
The National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive, which was held last Saturday nationwide, is being held this Saturday in zip codes 49423 and 49424. These are serviced by the Holland Post Office, which was tied up somewhat by the hustle and bustle of the Tulip Time Festival last week. Residents and businesses are asked to fill up specially marked bags with non-perishable food items and place them alongside their mailboxes by 9 AM for pick up.
Those items will then be distributed to four area non-profits – Community Action House, Gateway Mission, Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence, and the Salvation Army of Holland. Jason Parks with the Mission admits that, while the non-perishables are fine for this collection drive, other food items are needed too.
The Holland Hunger Awareness Weekend continues on Sunday with the annual Crop Walk at Centennial Park, beginning at 1 PM. An online link for more information from the Holland Area Hunger Coalition is here.
