HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 8, 2025) – The first of two parades during the 10-day renewal of Holland’s annual signature event highlight day seven of the 96th Tulip Time Festival for this Thursday.
The Gentex Kinderparade steps off from the corner of Columbia Avenue and East 8th Street at 2 PM, heading west through the downtown district, before ending in Kollen Park. The 8th Street route through downtown is blocked off from vehicular traffic from now through Saturday. Audio coverage begins at 1:30 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC.
The festival’s overall schedule begins at 8 AM with the Tulip Immersion Garden at Beechwood Church (895 Ottawa Beach Rd.). Historic Walking Tours from Window on the Waterfront Park (71 East 6th St.) start a half hour later. Opening its doors at 10 AM is the Quilt Show in the Midtown Center (96 West 15th St.), and the Art in Bloem Fine Art Exhibit in the Holland Area Arts Council building (150 East 8th St.). A Dutch Lunch & Dance Performance is in Evergreen Commons (480 State St.) from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, and the Skerbeck Carnival opens in the parking lot of the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place (150 West 8th St.) at 12 Noon.
Before the parade at 1 PM, there will be Dutch Dancing on 8th Street, with more clomping starting at 6:30 PM. This evening at 7 PM, a Photo Walk is at Windmill Island Gardens (1 Lincoln Ave.), and the Holland American Legion Band performs in concert at Hope College’s Miller Center for Musical Arts (221 Columbia Ave.), beginning at 8 PM.
