HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 24, 2025) – Holland may be a nice place to visit, as the Tulip Time Festival nears, but it’s also a nice place to start a business.
WalletHub, the online personal finance company, earlier this month disclosed its “Best and Worst Small Cities to Start of Business” survey, looking over more than 1,300 cities with fewer than 100,000 residents nationwide across 18 key metrics, which included small business growth rates, accessibility of financing, investor access, and labor costs. Holland ranked sixth in this evaluation, topping the list in access to resources, and was the only Midwest community among the 45 leaders nationwide.
Mayor Nathan Bocks wasn’t surprised.
St. George, Utah was first in this ranking, while Cupertino, California, home of Apple computers, was dead last. No other Michigan communities were in the top 100, with the Detroit suburbs of Allen Park and Dearborn at 122 and 130, respectively.
