CROCKERY TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 4, 2025) – A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized after a fiery single-vehicle crash on Monday night near Nunica.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cassie Tolman, first responders dispatched to the vicinity of Apple Drive and 130th Avenue around 8 PM encountered a sedan flipped over and ablaze in a wooded area. While the flames were doused quickly, the unnamed teen was seen lying on the ground near the vehicle.
Deputies determined that the vehicle, heading southeast on Apple Drive, veered left off of the roadway, hit a culvert, and then flipped into the trees, where it caught fire. It wasn’t known if the driver, who was alone in the sedan at the time, had been buckled up or not. He was taken to an unnamed “area hospital,” and his condition was not immediately disclosed.
The incident remains under investigation.
