OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 3, 2025) – Body and dash cams are now in use for Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies as they patrol area roads.
It was several years and $4.65 million in the making, but those in brown began wearing the electronic surveillance apparatus last month, and last week, vehicles were outfitted with the video equipment.
Sheriff Eric DeBoer admits that it will take a little while to get all of the bugs out of the system.
The sheriff explains why not everything that goes on can be catalogued on video.
About 225 body-worn cameras, along with 120 vehicle cameras, were acquired by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department in the approved August purchase with Axon.
