HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 19, 2025) – One of the oddities about Holland’s Outdoor Discovery Center could be rectified on Wednesday evening.
During the biweekly business meeting, the Holland City Council will be asked to approve a recommendation from the city’s Planning Commission to rezone about 20 acres, off of 143rd Street west of Lincoln Avenue, from industrial to open space. This is to accommodate the ODC’s intention to create a bicycle park at the site.
Dan Callam, the ODC Network’s Greenway Manager, explained this to city planners last month.
Among other issues before the governing panel in this meeting: A proposed a new, 30-year-long franchise ordinance between the Holland BPW and Consumers Energy in order to maintain a natural gas interconnection between the utilities, with the old pact set to expire on Saturday; and more tweaking on the Unified Development Ordinance.
The Holland City Council’s 6 PM meeting is in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
