With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Floyd Hollis Sr.,on January 26, 2025.
Born August 9, 1944, to Floyd and Lyla Hollis of Hamburg Michigan. Ron had three siblings, whom proceeded him in death, Mary, Pat and Dick.
Ron was brought up in a loving Christian home and attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal church, where he remained an active member throughout his life. His strong belief and faith in God, the Holy Spirit and in the resurrection of Jesus Christ formed the foundation of his life and guided him to fulfill his purpose during his time on Earth. His faith and love in God was evident in everything he did and in everyone he met.
Ron was a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend whose love and guidance shaped all who knew him. In 1984 he married the love of his life, Sue, and together they built a family rooted in love, faith, and anunwavering support.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Ron served in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, “Big Red One”. He faced life’s challenges with resilience and courage. These characteristics were displayed throughout his life, but took an especially important role over the past 7 years as he fought the effects of blood cancers, which were brought on by his exposure to agent orange, used in the Vietnam war.
Ron spent his career as a proud union glazier where he honed his strong work ethic. He was deeply committed to his work and thoroughly enjoyed the friendships that he made over the years. In his free time Ron enjoyed golfing with his “Hollis Hacker” buddies and many other golfing companions. He never missed an opportunity to root on his favorite University of Michigan team, especially U of M football.
Above all, his greatest joy was his family.
Ron is deeply missed by his wife, Sue; his children, Troy, Ron Jr., Michael (Bonnie), and Heather (Michael); his grandchildren, Tegan, Lyla, Nolan, Audrey, Norah, Zachary (Sarah), Dain, Emilia, Brennen, Mikaila, Hailee; and his great-granddaughter Ellison. His legacy of love and strength will live on in each of them.
We are proud to bring him home to Hamburg MI where his roots beganand to be laid to rest with the family he loved so dearly.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 3:00–8:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, 7425 M-36, Brighton (Hamburg Chapel), Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
