Robert C. Bain Sr., age 71, of Holland, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Bob was born and raised in Holland, Michigan. He worked as a Police Officer for Allegan County, then changed careers and worked at Hart & Cooley. He was very active within the union. Bob retired from Hart & Cooley after 40 years of dedicated employment. In retirement he worked as a security guard for Freedom Village as he was not able to sit still at home. Finally, he fully retired and started enjoying life with his wife of 50 years, Kimberly who also recently retired. Bob was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Holland.
Bob was very involved with his 3 children and his 8 grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event, band or orchestra concert, or even doctor visits. He also coached some of the little league teams his grandsons were on. He was definitely a family man. The grandkids had him wrapped around their fingers. Bob loved going up north to see his oldest daughter Marci and her family. He loved camping up there and having fun with family. Bob loved to golf and bowl. Bob bowled for many, many years and we will never forget the day he bowled his first 300. WOW WHAT A DAY!! One thing we will never forget is Bob and his weather predictions. If we had strong winds or any weather warnings, he was calling his kids and telling them “PUT YOUR SHOES ON”.
Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 4 years ago and it gradually advanced and eventually took his life. We will never understand why but what we do know is that his wife of 50 years took the best care of him until the very end. Bob’s family will always remember all the good times they had and smile when they think of him.
Bob was proceeded in death by his grandson, Keegan Doty.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Bain; three children, Marci (Jason) Sullivan, Heather (Jason) Hanft, Robert II (Julie) Bain. Bob is also survived by his seven grand-kids, Jacob, Sebastian, Kaleb, Brandon, Kaitiln, Junior and Lucas, who all adored their Pa in their own ways.
BOB WAS THE BIGGEST LIONS FAN AND MICHIGAN FAN EVER!!! NO MATTER WHERE HE WOULD BE HE WOULD SAY GO BLUE OR GO LIONS.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, on Saturday, February 8, at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland.
