ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 3, 2025) – A few items should be addressed by the Zeeland City Council during this Monday evening’s biweekly business meeting.
One item is to set a public hearing for a month from today, March 3rd, to get comment before a vote on a proposed Brownfield Plan amendment for property at 17 East Main Avenue. Midwest Construction plans to build a three-story, 27,000-plus structure that would have office/commercial space on the ground floor, with 22 one-bedroom apartment units on the other two floors for individuals and families earning up to 120% of Ottawa County’s Area Median Income, and six of those capped with controlled rents at state Housing Development Authority-approved rates. The project should become a reality later this year.
Other issues before the governing panel is to do some language correction on the city’s library ordinance amendment, approve the purchase of a new Clean Water Plant truck, set a February 17th public hearing on a proposed maintenance and parking space special assessment for downtown property owners, and approve the 2024 Performance Incentive Program.
A 5:45 PM Work-Study Session is ahead of the 7 PM Business Meeting for the Zeeland City Council, both of which are in Chambers at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm St.). A link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
