Grand Valley State split a basketball doubleheader in Marquette against Northern Michigan last night. Paige Vanstee’s 20 points led the Lakers to victory in the women’s opener, 74-48, before the host Wildcats got 21 points from Dylan Kuehl in taking the men’s nightcap, 79-52. GVSU’s teams are in Houghton to clash with Michigan Tech in a twin-bill tomorrow afternoon.
In state major-college basketball last night, Detroit Mercy downed Northern Kentucky, 68-57, and Oakland topped Green Bay, 68-54.
