ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 27, 2025) – A 21-year-old Grand Rapids man is free on bond following a Sunday arrest stemming from an off-campus robbery, flight and fight west of the GVSU campus in Allendale earlier this month.
Najour Weaver was arraigned on Monday by Hudsonville District Court Judge Judy Mulder on a count of unarmed robbery, after he had been taken into custody in the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming. Another suspect, a 21-year-old Muskegon man, is behind bars, pending an arraignment on concealed weapons charges.
The arrests came following a Saturday, January 18th early morning incident in which a 19-year-old man suffered bumps and bruises following a group of men taking some personal items from the victim in the parking lot of the 48 West apartment complex off of 48th Avenue south of Lake Michigan Drive. A suspect vehicle sped off into Standale after being spotted by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies, and other officers had to break up a skirmish in the parking lot following the robbery and subsequent police chase.
Also on Monday, detectives from both the sheriff’s department and Grand Rapids Police executed a search warrant on an unnamed residence in the Calder City for evidence believed to be involved in this incident.
The case remains open, and anyone with any further information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-5436).
