Dennis Auwema, age 95, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Dennis was a graduate of Corsica High School, Corsica, SD. He met the love of his life and wife, Mary. They were married for 72 years. He was drafted and served in the army during the Korean war. He was a founding member of Faith Christian Reformed Church. He was self-employed and worked as an installer of carpet, tile, and much more. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He enjoyed working with wood and creating cherished projects. He enjoyed singing in the choir as well. In retirement, he served the Christian Reformed Conference grounds and Mobility Worldwide. He was affectionately known as “Trouble” at the Atrium at Royal Park where he lived for the last four years. He was well loved by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and he will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Auwema; sister, Dolly and Pete VanSoest; an infant brother, Anthony; and brother-in-law, Bud Mosterd.
He is survived by his children, Denise and Jeffry Stam, Doug and Bobbie Auwema, David and Constance Auwema, Meridell Carpenter, Tim and Melinda Auwema; grandchildren, Michelle and Curt Alderink, Danielle and Pat Schut, Todd Pataky, Melissa and Michael Koetje, Daniel Auwema, John and Katie Auwema, Griffin Carpenter, Chase Carpenter, Katelyn and Danny Damas, Kurtis Auwema; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor and Rod VanRoekel; sister, Jenean Mosterd; brother-in-law, Bruce Hulst; sister-in-law, Betty Roelofs; and much extended family.
Visitation with the family is 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland, MI 49423.
Funeral services are at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 also at Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home.
Burial to take place in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
