ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 9, 2024) – Nobody was hurt when a SUV collided with a school bus near the Grand Valley State University main campus in Allendale on Monday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to 48th Avenue near Pierce Street at 3:49 PM on a report of such a collision. It was determined that the southbound SUV, driven by a 19-year-old Pontiac man, attempted to pass the Unity Christian School Bus when it sideswiped the larger vehicle, causing a crash.
Neither the suburban Detroit man nor the bus driver, a 58-year-old Allendale woman, suffered any injuries, and the bus was empty of students at the time. No names were disclosed as the incident remains under investigation.
