Jaime Tijerina was born on June 22, 1959 in Pleasonton, Texas to Hermina & Miguel Tijerina. He graduated from Carrizo Springs High School in 1977. In 1980 he married Amelia Sanchez and together they had two children, Jaime Tijerina Jr. and Anthony David Tijerina. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia in 2019. He passed away on December 3, 2024 due to complications from the disease.
Jaime worked in the Texas oil fields until 1990. That same year he moved to Holland, Michigan with his family. Jaime worked for Phoenix Designs and Herman Miller before working at Holland Board of Public Works. He retired from B.P.W. in June of 2019.
He was a man with a kind heart. He loved grilling and was known for his skills on the grill. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, playing music and spending time with his family and friends.
Jaime was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel & Hermina Tijerina; sister, Alicia Tijerina; brothers, Raul, Pedro and Mike Tijerina Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Amelia Tijerina; sons, Anthony David Tijerina and Jaime (Jeniffer) Tijerina; grandchildren, Lily Maldonado and Michael Tijerina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, December 20, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 480 152nd Avenue, Holland. Father Michael Burt presiding. Visitation will also be held one hour prior from 10:00am to 11:00am at the church.
Following the funeral mass, the Tijerina family will receive visitors from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland.
