Ruth Childs McDonald, age 87, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Ruth was a member of Third Reformed Church, former member of the Woman’s Literary Club, and HASP (Hope Academy of Senior Professionals). She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. in nursing from University of Washington. Her career included University of Indiana Medical Center in Bloomington, IN, Los Alamos Medical Center in New Mexico; Midland, Michigan Department of Public Health and private duty nursing. She later volunteered in the Hospice Program of Traverse City, MI. While living overseas, she worked with American Women’s Club in Geneva, Switzerland for several years. This was followed by a move to Yugoslavia before she and her family returned to the United States.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McDonald.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Doyle, Diane and Tim Mabeley, Julia Pelton; grandchildren, Bill Doyle, Maggie Doyle, Nathan (Kat) Pelton, Katie Pelton, Joseph Loughery, James and Mia Loughery, Seraiah Coe, Cianna Alliot, Sophia Coe; and brother, Frank and Mickey Boersma.
