Barb was strong in her faith. She enjoyed listening to hymns, playing the piano, and singing. She taught others about the Bible throughout her life, including teaching Sunday school then teaching adults later in life. She also ran a church program with her late husband Warren for many years at Waverly Meadows, and found joy in sharing the word of Jesus with others.
Some of Barb’s favorite things in life included color tours every fall, watching and feeding birds, camping at Glen Lake, and watching football and baseball. She was known for her sense of humor and always loved making others smile and laugh. Her sense of humor showed itself in multiple ways, like using her binoculars to watch the construction workers outside in the summer all the way to playing practical jokes on her own mother! Barb enjoyed listening to the police scanner and was involved with the CB radio back in the day – we remember her call letters and conclude with this – “KSI-4583 is no longer in service.”
Barb was preceded in death by her husband Warren Pendell in 2012 and by her former husband, Laverne Haak in 2015.
She is survived by children Bob (Cathy) Haak, Debi (Brent) Loudin, Pam Westerhof, and Dan Haak. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services for Barbara will take place at Lakeshore Memorial Services – 11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4 from 11 AM followed by a funeral service at 1 PM.
