Cora (Cork) Hoffmeyer Dykema, age 97 of Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 24, 2024.
Cork was born on August 21, 1927, to William and Jennie Boeve. She was one of eight children and grew up in Holland. She married Louis Hoffmeyer in 1947 and together were blessed with four children. She was a very active member of Park Christian Reformed Church, and she would often have get togethers at her home. She worked at Holland Hospital as a ward clerk for over 20 years and after retirement she volunteered at the Holland Museum.
After the passing of her first husband, Lou, Cork met and married Jim Dykema. They enjoyed seven years of marriage, spending winters down in Florida. Cork had a fantastic sense of humor and was always up for an adventure. She was resilient and loved change. She was very social and enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, meeting friends for tea and getting involved in the activities at Freedom Village where she lived for thirteen years. She was an avid walker and was hard to keep up with! Cork had a strong faith and trust
in God. Recently, when asked about God’s care in her life, she responded, “You’ve got to hand it to him!” That was Mom: positive, brave, fun, wise, and grounded. She will be missed greatly!
Cork is survived by her four children: Mary Beth and Jim Vogelzang, Pat and John Dykstra , Mark and Julie Hoffmeyer, and Kathy and Scott Cook; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Katie and James Vogelzang Wallace, Amy and Mitch Disselkoen (Evan, Colin, Seth Alayna); Sara and Tim Monsma (Sophie, Ella), Jessica and Luke Berkey (Maddie, Wyatt), Emily and James Murray (Aaron, Eleanor), Amanda and Eddie Seymour (Liam), Rachel and Ryan Deters (Cora, Edwin) Josh and Brit Cook (Pason), and Matt Cook and fiancé, Kori Whitby.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Cork’s name to Holland Christian Schools.
