OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 21, 2024) – The November 5th General Election has been finally put to bed in Ottawa County.
That jurisdiction’s Board of Canvassers certified results on Monday, within the two-week-long window following the vote as prescribed by state law. According to County Clerk Justin Roebuck, 184 thousand ballots were cast, a 75 percent turnout, with just under 74 thousand absentee ballots and over 31 thousand voting during the nine-day early voting period from October 26th through November 3rd. The 72,000 who came to the polls on Election Day was less than half of the turnout, so could this become the norm now?
Allegan County had just over 85 thousand voters casting ballots on November 5th, also a 75 percent turnout, but absentee and early voting numbers there were not immediately available.
