Betty was raised on a farm in Robinson Township by her parents, the late Ralph and Beowina “Winnie” Bouwman. Betty was the youngest of 7 children; Henrietta, Josephine, Ann, Kathryn, Marian and Raymond who all preceded her in death along with many other brothers and sisters in law. She was also preceded in death by her son Steven Geurink.
Betty was a past member of Rusk Christian Reformed Church and Harvest Church. She was currently attending Community Reformed Church and Family Church.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Calvin College in 1986 and taught at Allendale Christian and Borculo Christian Schools.

Betty and Glenn volunteered 24 years with CRWRC (World Renew), traveling around the United States and the world to help families following natural disasters, and also supported the work of building Christian schools in Central America and India.
Betty loved writing poems, playing the piano and singing. She led Bible Studies and mentored many women over the years. She enjoyed biking, gardening, working on the farm, softball (batting average of over 700), bowling and slalom water skiing.

A funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will be 11:00 am Monday, November 11, 2024 at the Rusk Christian Reformed Church, 10354 92nd Ave, Allendale. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Neymeiyer. Burial will be in Rusk Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St in Holland. Visitation will also be Monday 10:00 -10:45 am at Rusk Christian Reformed Church prior to the service on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amazon Water Project – Family Church or to Mission French Africa – Dr. Paul Mpindi.
