HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 1, 2024) – It will be a big Saturday afternoon at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium in Holland.
Not only will the 23rd-ranked Hope Flying Dutchmen entertain the Trine Thunder in MIAA football action, but the gridiron program is the one that the Holland school this year is designating for its annual Purple Community Game to benefit the Van Andel Institute.
Hope coach Peter Stuursma is pleased to support the effort in fighting against cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
The Van Andel family has been long-time supporters of Hope, most notably in the financial backing for the construction of the soccer stadium on campus that bears their name.
Hope officials say that 100 percent of the proceeds from the game will go toward providing internships for Hope students at Van Andel Institute.
As for the Flying Dutchmen, they area undefeated in four games thus far after knocking off two-time defending league champion Alma in the middle of the mitten last Saturday, 34-13.
Kickoff for Hope versus Trine at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium on Saturday is at 1 PM, with coverage beginning at 12:30 PM on The Lakeshore’s 92 7 The Van.
