ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 17, 2024) – Another banner class in terms of numbers have settled in for education at Grand Valley State University.
The Allendale-based institution of higher education announced on Monday that 4,278 first-year students have enrolled this fall. It’s slightly less than last year’s record amount, but it is more diverse, with a 21 percent increase in black students, and a nearly eight percent increase in Hispanic students.
That pleases GVSU President Philomena Mantella.
Grand Valley is one of three state universities in Michigan to welcome a first-year class of more than 4,200 students in the last decade, and school officials add that rates for continuing undergraduate students improved for the third straight year, showing a growth of 3.3 percent since 2021.
