Curtis Wright Huyser, age 89, of Beaverdam, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2024.
Curt, born on October 11, 1934, in Beaverdam, MI, was a dedicated engineer, his passion for his craft leading him to a successful career at General Motors spanning over three decades. In his 80s, Curt still remembered all of the men he supervised in his department, and he could list them in alphabetical order.
Curt enjoyed helping people by fixing broken things or building something they needed. He was very modest and humble and downplayed his abilities but was there when you needed him. He was a perfectionist and loved a beautiful clean car or time cruising on his motorcycle or boat.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, and his quiet sense of humor delighted many. He and his wife Gloria enjoyed many winters in Florida at Nettles Island in their retirement years.
Curt is survived by his wife, Gloria Huyser; daughter, Sally (Paul) Wetters; grandchildren: Matthew (Anna) Wetters, Cara (Nick) Knapp, Lindsey Wetters, and Isaac Wetters; great-grandson, Noah Wetters; in-laws: Willard Brink, Marjorie Walters, Berdella (Ed) Cooper, Nathan (Marilyn) Brink, Andrew Brink, June Van Farowe, Pearl (Stan) Voss; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Curt was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and William Terpstra.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Vriesland Reformed Church, 6839 Byron Road, Zeeland, MI 49464. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 13, Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland. Memorial contributions may be given to Wycliffe Bible Translators.
