OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 16, 2024) – Labor Day may be more than a fortnight away, but the augmented holiday road enforcement period gets underway on Friday.
The emphasis on this latest patrol effort by state police troopers, county sheriff’s deputies and local law enforcement officers is impaired motoring. “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” will include extra shifts and ad campaigns funded by the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning through cash from federal Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Although he’s head of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department Marine Unit, Sergeant Jon Knott is able to spot and stop impaired drivers behind the wheel as well as behind the helm.
A link to the state OHSP impaired driving page for more information is here. The enforcement period is from August 16 through September 2.
