HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 1, 2024) – While residents on the other side of the state are crying foul over a proposed electric rate hike, those served by Holland’s municipal utility are getting tips on how they can save energy and money.
Protesters rallied outside DTE Energy’s Detroit headquarters on Wednesday to oppose the utility’s latest rate hike request of ten percent. The demonstrators argued they’ve suffered too many outages to afford another rate increase only four months after the last one took effect, and sympathetic state attorney general Dana Nessel is pushing for a three percent rate hike.
Meanwhile, electric customers of the Holland Board of Public Works received something in the mail that General Manager Dave Koster says may be worth reading.
Making these changes will pay off now and in the future.
Extra copies of the Holland BPW Residential Energy Efficiency Catalog are available at the utility’s offices (625 Hastings Ave.).
