HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 23, 2024) – No injuries were reported following an apartment fire in Holland Heights late on Monday night.
Department of Public Safety Fire Services crews were dispatched to a building in the 300 block of Stratford Way, off of East 12th Street, at 11:25 PM. They saw heavy smoke coming from the windows of a unit in the second floor of the two-story structure. Quickly entering the apartment, crews were able to extinguish the flames, and a search found that all of the occupants had safely escaped. Others who lived in the building were also accounted for, while American Red Cross and Department of Public Safety Victim Advocates staffers helped the residents of the affected unit find temporary lodging.
The promptness of the firefighters’ actions kept the blaze contained to the unit affected, which suffered significant fire, heat and smoke damage. No cause of the fire was immediately determined, nor was any initial estimate made of damage as a result of the incident, which remains under investigation.
