HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 17, 2024) – What began six decades ago as just a local celebration of a Mexican holiday has grown to much, much more.
The week-long Fiesta festivities continue on Friday night with a two-hour concert in the Kollen Park bandshell at 6:30 PM, followed by a day-long celebration of Latin culture on Saturday at the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place, starting at 11:30 AM, and a Sunday Car Show at the 8th Street Marketplace parking lots. These events follow a Monday film, a Tuesday symposium, a Wednesday Holland Farmers Market kids activities, and street performers along 8th Street downtown on Thursday.
Latin Americans United for Progress is staging all of these events in an effort to spotlight and promote the growing Hispanic community along the Lakeshore. Johnny Rodriguez took over the operational reins during some tough times for the organization three years ago.
