KALAMAZOO, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 26, 2024) – Two men have been arrested in connection with a murder victim found near South Haven more than 18 months ago.
The Michigan State Police and the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department announced on Tuesday that 29-year-old Bryan Wimbley and 22-year-old Zachary Trainor were arraigned in Kalamazoo District Court on open murder charges stemming from the death of Lashaun Keith. The body of the 33-year-old Kalamazoo area man was found in a field in Geneva Township on November 3, 2022.
Investigators believe that Keith was killed in Kalamazoo County and then tossed out into a hayfield off of 68th Street, near the Kal-Haven Trail. Initial media reports indicated that he may have been the victim of a hit-and-run incident, but the exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed.
Wimbley was taken into custody eight days ago, while Trainor, who also faces a removal of a body without medical examiner permission count, was arrested last Saturday. Both men are being held without bond in the Kalamazoo County Jail, with a preliminary hearing set for sometime next month.
