HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 3, 2024) – It didn’t take long for Ryan Dorow to get to work.
The one-time Texas Ranger infielder was looking at high school baseball players in action this past weekend after being named the 10th head baseball coach in Hope College history. Dorow was appointed to succeed Stu Fritz, who had retired last month after a 31-year career in guiding the Flying Dutchmen to 674 victories in 1,164 games, including a 22-20 final campaign in 2024 that ended with a MIAA Tournament final appearance.
In keeping with Hope’s tradition of promoting from within, or tabbing alumnae, to program leadership positions, Dorow had been on Fritz’ staff for the past two years, and was the team’s recruiting coordinator. However, the South Haven High Ram didn’t stay in West Michigan after his high school graduation, heading instead to Adrian, where he earned All-American honors for three years with the Bulldogs, and spent a proverbial “cup of coffee” with the Rangers in 2021 during a seven-year professional baseball career.
