HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 25-year-old Holland woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a single vehicle crash caused, police say, by a sleepy driver.
The crash, just after 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020, happened when a 28-year-old Holland man dozed off while driving a 2002 Toyota Avalon south on US-31 near Blair Street in Olive Township, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Dill
Crash investigators learned the Toyota drifted off the east side of the highway, at which point the driver woke up, over-correcting and losing control of the car, which went off the west side of the highway, striking several trees.
The driver was not physically hurt in the crash, but his passenger, the 25-year-old Holland woman, went by ambulance to Holland Hospital in what Dill indicated was good condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
