PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 11, 2024) – A couple from Holland was hospitalized after a Friday night, single-vehicle crash on Holland’s North Side.
No names were initially disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eric Westveer, who was among a number of first responders at the scene of Ottawa Beach Road at 152nd Avenue shortly before 8 PM. Deputies determined that an eastbound vehicle, “traveling at a high rate of speed,” lost control, veered into a curb, which sent it rolling over several times before striking a tree. The vehicle then careened back onto the roadway and burst into flames.
Deputies were able to take the 46-year-old driver and his 45-year-old female passenger out of the burning vehicle. The driver went to Holland Hospital in serious condition, the woman was flown to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids in critical condition.
Ottawa Beach Road had to be closed for several hours as the crash remains under investigation.

Why are there no names? Around 45 years ago, I crashed into a tree and my name was on the radio news and in the newspaper. It turned out to be minor injuries as well.
