HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It’s time to start taking COVID 19 seriously again.
Those living within the boundaries of the Intermediate School Districts of Ottawa, Kent and Muskegon counties will receive a letter, agreed upon by Holland’s Brian Davis and his fellow district superintendents, asking that preventative measures against the novel coronavirus be taken up in earnest, with infection rates climbing to 148 per million in the past week.
“At 150, the Department of Public Health begins to ask the question, ‘What events and activities in our community do we need to restrict, shut down, postpone, delay, and provide additional restrictions to?’” Dr. Davis said on “WHTC Talk of the Town” during his monthly appearance on Tuesday. “Our K-12 schools across Ottawa County are at jeopardy of not being able to remain open if this trend continues.”
Some events have already been impacted this week, including the forfeiture of Zeeland West High’s varsity and junior varsity football games against Mona Shores due to the positive test of one player in the program and contact tracing protocols among other members of the program.
